Prior to founding Kalakau Avenue, I was fortunate to spend over a decade in the world of “Endowment Model” investing. My career in this field started at a leading endowment model investment firm based in California, where I formed part of their asset allocation team. Later at business school, I was approached by a family investment office in London, which had just sold the family business and wanted to build an internal endowment model investment team. I spent the next 8 years helping to build their portfolio, investment philosophy and process, team, infrastructure, and culture. Throughout this time, I have had the great pleasure of interacting with and learning from some of the world’s best investors. I wanted to share some of the learnings gained along the way.
